In 2021, the Hellenic Republic celebrates the 200th anniversary of the uprising of Greek revolutionaries against the Ottoman Occupation in the Greek War of Independence. From 1821-1832, Greek revolutionaries fought the War to secure their homeland, their people, and their culture, at the cost of entire communities across the Aegean Sea and Peloponnese.
An international calendar of events has been endorsed by the Greek Government to acknowledge this anniversary. In South Australia, the Foundation for Hellenic Studies launched Gr2021 as the promotional platform for events commemorating this anniversary. Community groups and individual organisers from around Australia are invited to send their details and event information to firstname.lastname@example.org for inclusion on the website.
