Evzones 2022

From 25th October 2022 in Adelaide

With the special permission of the President of Greece, the Hellenic Presidential Guard returns to Adelaide in October 2022 for eight days of activities hosted by the Foundation for Hellenic Studies with the proud support of the South Australian Government.

After visiting Adelaide, the travelling party will make its way to Perth in what will be the first time that the Guard has visited Western Australia.

You’re invited to witness the Guard at the following official and public events. Everyone is welcome except where the event is marked as ‘private’.

Hellenic Presidential Guard Schedule

Tues, 25th Oct – 4:55pm –  Welcome the Hellenic Presidential Guard as they arrive at Adelaide International Airport.

Wed, 26th Oct – 9.00am – 11.30am – St Dimitrios’ Day. The Guard will attend Church service at St Dimitrios Church, 27 Saints Rd, Salisbury to commemorate the Saint’s Day.  Public are welcome to attend.

Wed, 26th Oct – 3.00pm – 4.00pm –Courtesy visit to the Consulate Office of the Hellenic Republic, Grenfell Street, Adelaide. This is a private event.

Thur, 27th Oct – 10.00am – 11.00am – Visit to St Basil’s Aged Care, St Peters. Due to COVID management practices this event will be a private event.

Thur, 27th Oct – 6.30pm for 7.15pm – 11pm – John William Perry OrationHellenic Australian Lawyers, SA Chapter, held at the Adelaide Pavilion. The Hellenic Presidential Guard will be present at the commencement of the evening and during a short presentation about the role played by the Guard. This is a ticketed dinner event. For tickets contact Peter Tantalos on 0456703999 or on tantalos.peter@gmail.com.

Fri, 28th Oct – 9.00am – 11.30 am – ‘OXI’ Day. The Guard will attend Church service at St George Church, 60 Rose St, Thebarton to commemorate ‘OXI’ Day. There will also be an unveiling of a Memorial in honour of the 200 year anniversary of the Independence of the Greek State. Public are welcome to attend.

Sat, 29th Oct – 8.30am – 9.00am – March to War Memorial, North Terrace from Hotel on Frome Street. Guards will begin their march from The Crowne Plaza Hotel, Frome Street. Public are welcome to attend.

Sat, 29th Oct – 9.00am – 12.30pm – Service of Remembrance – ‘OXI’ Day – War Memorial – Members of the Guard will stand in honour of the ultimate sacrifice made by many in various wars. There will be a Trisagion and then wreath laying ceremony with dignitaries and the public invited to attend.  A changing of the Guard will take place at 10am, 11am and 12 noon. All are welcome. Sat, 29th Oct – 6:30pm – Late – Join us at Little Athens ADL– a celebration of Greek culture in Vardon Avenue. The soldiers will march in uniform from Frome Street to the street party and observe a Welcome to Country. Once formalities have concluded, Vardon Avenue will come alive with dancing and music by Oneiro and DJ NYK. Enjoy the party (free entry) or pre-purchase  tickets for a 6:30pm dinner at the East End Cellars via www.trybooking.com/CBESI (limited tickets are available). Continue on at The Stag from 10:30pm until the early hours.

The dinner event is a ticketed event although there will be areas for public to attend also. For ticketing enquiries go to https://www.trybooking.com/CBESI. 

After the conclusion of the dinner there will be an opportunity for the party to continue at the Stag Hotel – 10.30 pm until the early hours.

Sun, 30th Oct – Free Day.

Mon, 31st Oct – 9.30am – 10.30 am – Adelaide High School Assembly – Assembly in honour of visit to SA of the Hellenic Presidential Guard. This is a school event, to discuss attendance please contact dimitra.rozaklis144@schools.sa.edu.au.

Mon, 31st Oct – 1.30pm – 2.30pm – St George College Assembly – Assembly in honour of visit to SA of the Hellenic Presidential Guard. This is a school event, to discuss attendance please contact pkaramoshos@sgc.sa.edu.au.

Tues, 1st Nov – 12:00pm – 3.00 pm – Melbourne Cup Luncheon – at George’s on Waymouth.  This is a private event.

Tues, 1st Nov – 7:30pm – Hellenic Presidential Guard leaves Adelaide on Qantas flight QF 889 for Perth arriving there at 8.20pm.
